Since its launch in 2007, Bliss Lau had grown from a tiny, unorthodox line of body jewelry to a globally coveted fine jewelry brand, sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and featured in the likes of Vogue, Elle, and Vanity Fair. By 2015, Bliss Lau jewelry was a regular topic on Refinery29, and had been worn by several celebrities including Beyoncé and Rosamund Pike. Such publicity was a huge boon for the brand, barring one substantial challenge: in a year when nearly 50% of all ecommerce transactions originated on mobile devices,

blisslau.com was not accessible on mobile.

We set out to design and build a website for Bliss that was not only cell phone- and tablet-friendly, but looked as high-end and luxurious as the jewelry itself, and was flexible enough to evolve and scale with the continued growth of the brand.

A BROWSER’S PARADISE

 

ALL IN ONE HOMEPAGE

Understanding that different people like to navigate websites in different ways, we designed the homepage to accommodate BOTH a linkable featured image slider and a separate area for showcasing different collections and products. This gave visitors multiple portals through which to explore Bliss Lau products.

SIMPLIFIED MENU

To make it easier for shoppers to find exactly what they want, we simplified the menu pages into four parent categories and created a megamenu dropdown that allows for multiple columns of pages within each parent category.

RESPONSIVE DESIGN

We designed the entire website framework to collapse to to two columns on tablet and single-column layout on mobile phones. This makes it effortless for users to browse and purchase the entire spectrum of products with just a swipe and tap of the finger.

CUSTOM PAGE TYPES

By creating custom page types, we gave our client the flexibility to feature custom jewelry projects, collaborations, news and blog posts in a way that maintained consistent branding and global elements throughout the website.

 

STREAMLINED MANAGEMENT

With the new website built on the Shopify platform, the client could take advantage of 24/7 customer service support, detailed reporting and a user-friendly administrator tool.
